After serving 20 years in the Canadian Forces, I was medically released with severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which was directly related to my participation in Operation Persistence. In 2014, I published Eye of the Storm: Personal Commitment to Managing PTSD; an account of my healing and understanding of how stress manifests in our lives and creates an unhealthy storm. While working as a crisis counselor at a domestic violence shelter, I was introduced to HeartMath® and actively applied the techniques in my daily life. Witnessing the improvement in my PTSD symptomology after practicing Quick Coherence™ throughout my day, I became passionate about sharing my success by helping others. In 2014, I became a Certified HeartMath® Coach and in 2018 a Certified HeartMath® Trainer.
With a military background and of a family of police officers, I have recognized the effects of daily stress that can become a liability if it not managed through daily self-care practice. It is my mission to pay it forward, by training military, police, firefighters, EMS and crisis workers the HeartMath® techniques.
I am a speaker for The Memory Project which is a project of Historica Canada and serves the public by arranging volunteer veterans to share their stories in schools and community events across the country.
I hold a BA in Justice Studies and am completing a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. After my program completion , I am looking forward to serving my community and incorporating the many HeartMath® techniques into my counseling practice.
